NATIONAL INSTITUTE for LASER, PLASMA and RADIATION PHYSICS
Metoda si sistem inovativ pentru detectarea urmelor de droguri prin spectroscopie de masa asistata plasma-laser
CONTRACT 195/02.07.2012
PROGRAMUL "PARTENERIATE"
PN-II-PT-PCCA-2011-3.1-1136

OBJECTIVES

•The project aims to input radically new knowledge into the development of an innovative ultra fast, easy to use and low cost system interface coupled to a mass spectrometer dedicated to the surface analysis (nanometer (nm) depth resolution) of soft materials (skin, cloath, paper, etc) contaminated with drug traces.  Analysis time will range from seconds to a couple of minutes. Moreover, due to the synchronization of the pulsed laser with the pulsed metastable atoms flux, this project will provide an affordable "multi-dimensional" advanced material characterization, allowing direct simultaneous elemental and molecular measurement with an  increased detection sensitivity of the mass spectrometer of 1 ppm
•Analyse and define the working procedure for the pulsed metastable source adapted to specific MS applications
•To develop strategy for the generation and transport of the analyte ions from the designed interface to MS
•To develop strategy for the increasing of the desorption efficiency of the analytes by pulsed lasers
•The improvement of the mass spectrometer detection by optimizing the mechanics, the optics and the synchronized electronics, and by coupling the pulsed laser with pulsed metastable source
